Hemelswater is a German style blond beer that is brewed with rainwater collected at Volkshotel in the Wilbaustraat, Amsterdam. The aim of brewing with rainwater was to reduce the cities flooding during periods of heavy rain. This means for every 1000L of beer the brewery collects 1200L of rainwater. The use of rainwater gives the beer a softer taste and allows for the taste of the hop bitters to come through more prominently. A light citrus taste finishes off this very accessible beer.
